That segment of the American market represents about a quarter of America’s 250 million cellphone subscribers, according to Strategy Analytics, a market research firm based in Newton, Mass. In contrast with cellphone users in Asia, more than half of American subscribers paid $50 or less for their cellphones. Apple, whose biggest challenge may be persuading Americans to spend $500 or $600 for an iPhone, has said it wants to have the devices in the hands of 1 percent of the world’s cellphone users, or about 10 million people, by the end of next year. Boy with all these new hand sets around the corner is just great, for a tech and gadget head like me. I am not sure if this is the rumored Google phone that has been circulating the web space for months. But this could very well be the start. Though the handsets comes out in Europe. LG’s KU-580 handset, which incorporates Google Search, Google Mail and Google Maps. Here is more info via reghardware……… The device sports a red-on-black color scheme not unlike LG’s popular Chocolate phone, but it’s larger, sporting a 2in widescreen LCD, the better to view Google’s web properties, accessed through a fast 3G connection.
