Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Review- Get yours now!!!
Hauppauge is well-known for its HD PVR system, HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition records high-definition video from a Sony PlayStation3 or Microsoft Xbox 360 onto your Windows laptop or desktop PC, in a high-definition H.264 format. You can also play your game play recordings back onto your PC screen or transfer them over your home network for playback on a PS3 or Xbox 360. The New feature with the HD PVR 2 is HDMI and Component Video in plus no-delay HDMI video passthrough. Which I regret to say still exists , and is noticeable during recording sessions.
Another new feature on the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 is the record button, which allows you to start and stop recordings directly from you HD PVR 2 form the top mounted button on the HD PVR 2. Hit the record button and ShowBiz opens on your PC and starts recording. Hit the record button again and Showiz will stop recording. This makes recording your video gameplay super easy! You have got great video and audio quality from the HD PVR 2 gaming edition which uses a pro-quality video encoder, which is used in TV studios. HD PVR 2’s H.264 recording format is used by Blu-ray disks and exceeds other compression standards in video quality, providing a crisp image with amazing digital sound. And H.264 uses 1/3 the disk space compared with the popular MPEG-2 format.
In all the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition is a nice upgrade to the first HD PVR, the HDMI connectivity makes it easier to have your gaming system connected and the addition of the record button is a nice clean touch. On the down side there is still lag through HDMI passthrough. Still I fully recommend the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming edition for any gamer looking to record share and showcase their gaming prowls to friends and on the web.
