Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Review: The new ultrabook
The Microsoft Surface pro 2 is the latest in the Pro line of Surface products; what does that mean? Well for starters it means the Surface Pro 2 is capable of handling Windows 8.1 pro, running legacy apps and still have the portability of a tablet. The Surface Pro 2, is powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor which, combined with other improvements, delivers increased performance and up to 60 percent longer battery life than Surface Pro. Also starting at $899, Surface Pro 2 will be offered in 64GB and 128GB configurations with 4 GB of RAM and 256GB and 512GB configurations with 8 GB of RAM. I wish it was 8GB across the board; the system weight just 2lbs and still is the lightest Tablet/laptop you can get on the market. So in terms of design the Surface Pro 2 looks just like the original Surface Pro, but the internal enhancements go a long way in improving the battery life and performance of the surface Pro 2. I was able to get up to 7-8 hours of battery life and also got some solid PC gaming on the Surface Pro 2 with Batman Arkham Origins gameplay.
The Surface Pro 2 does have a few aspects that I would like to see change; future updates of the Surface Pro 2 needs to a bit thinner in design and more apps are need to take full advantage of the stylus. Besides that, the Surface Pro 2 is a fantastic piece of hardware that helps stretch the imagination of what Windows is and will become. The Surface Pro 2 with the Type cover 2 keyboard is versatile, functional, portable . Plus I can play my PC games on there, so its a big plus. That is why I call the Surface Pro 2 the New ultrabook and the future of computing.
