LG Adds Amazon Alexa Support in 2018 LG AI TVs

Compatibility with Alexa AI Offers More Versatility to LG webOS Smart TVs

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2018 — 2018 AI TVs from LG Electronics (LG) will be compatible with Amazon Alexa devices, offering users the ability to issue voice commands to their existing Amazon Alexa devices – including Amazon Echo, Echo Show, Echo Dot, Echo Spot and Echo Plus – to control their LG AI TV. Using Amazon Alexa platform-based devices, LG AI TV viewers can access numerous TV functions including volume, play, pause, start, stop, fast forward controls, channel selection and content search.

Users can experience the advanced AI voice capabilities of their LG AI TV with the comprehensive features of Amazon Alexa. For example, you can issue voice commands such as, “Alexa, turn up the volume on my living room TV” or “Alexa, change the channel to CNN on my kitchen TV.” You can also open specific apps on the TV by saying “Alexa, ask LG to launch YouTube on my bedroom TV” without having to speak into LG’s Magic Remote.

“LG has long been committed to developing TVs that combine innovative technologies with the widest range of convenient, user-friendly interfaces and adding Amazon Alexa is consistent with this strategy,” said Tim Alessi, Senior Director, Product Marketing for home entertainment at LG Electronics USA. “LG’s 2018 webOS-enabled AI TVs give customers the added capabilities of Alexa on their TVs without sacrificing any of the features of LG ThinQ, which can still be accessed with LG Magic Remote.”

English-based Amazon Alexa voice support will be offered on LG’s 2018 AI TVs beginning in the United States. Visitors to CES can experience LG’s full 2018 TV lineup at booth #11100 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more information please visit http://CES2018.lgusnewsroom.com.
