[ad#ad-1]The first thing you notice about the Elgato game capture HD is its sizet. Which is noticeable small; the Elgato Game Capture HD is the industries first HDMI game capture device. What this allows is for a device to be smaller more compact and also output content at the highest level at 1080p. We have seen smaller devices like the Roxio Game Cap, but the Elgato Game capture HD pushes the size limits even further, with only for ports on the device, HDMI in & out, AV port and a micro USB port for charging and transfer. Packaged with the Elgato Game Capture HD is the Elgato Capture and editing software.
The Elgato Game Capture HD software is very simply, and I mean very simple. The software allows you to capture and edit and upload your videos to a plethora of networks. From YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, to Email, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad,. Now when I said simple I really meant barebones. The Elgato game capture software allows you to capture your HD gaming experience with ease. But it doesn’t give you the ability to record voice or audio over the capture. Basically you can’t do a walkthrough video while gaming. Has to be recorded later. Also the editor is very basic; giving you the ability to trim your video clip as its only editing option. But you can upload directly to YouTube and Facebook as well as render video for different destination locations, i.e (Apple TV tablets and smartphones) and render for different formats
Overall the ELgato Game Capture HD, is one of the simplest and easiest Game capture devices on the market. It is easy to connect and simple to use, which is great for an entry gamer who want to get their video up on line. But that simplicity comes at a price; the editing software is very basic and devoid of options. Plus users lack the ability to record voice-over during game capture recoding. That been said, the simplicity and ease of use goes a long way, plus the fact it only uses a HDMI port is fantastic. Which means you can use it as a DVR to record your TV shows.
