At CES 2025, we made a nice little discovery in the form of the Aurzen ZIP, a CES 2025 Innovation Awards Honoree. The Aurzen ZIP is a highly portable tri-fold projector, with an active campaign currently on Kickstarter. In its collapsed form, it is only one-inch thick and slips right into your pocket. Expanded out, you have a projector with flexible viewing angles, stereo sound, and 90 minutes of playtime on a full charge. Throw in one-click screen mirroring and compatibility with iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows devices, and the Aurzen ZIP aims to give you a level of versatility that matches its portability.

Powering the Aurzen ZIP Projector is a 8mm thin HD optical engine and a tiny DLP microchip. The projector features aluminum alloy hinges for flexible yet sturdy height and angle adjustments. It houses a pair of stereo speakers on the sides and a built-in gyroscope, allowing you to project mobile content as a portrait display. The projector’s 90-minute playtime is backed up by 24W PD fast charging, aiming to get the projector back up and running quickly.

In terms of display, the Aurzen ZIP features a 720p resolution, reinforced by automatic keystone and focus features. These automatic checks and adjustments occur 30 times a second, allowing you to focus merely on adjusting the unit’s horizontal and vertical viewing angles. Simply point the unit at a surface, adjust the height to your liking, and let the ZIP take care of the rest. If you need to make finer adjustments, you can control the projector via Bluetooth using the AurzenHub mobile app.

Aurzen also showed some of the optional accessories at the show, further expanding on the Aurzen ZIP’s functionality. The CastPlay is a wireless HDMI dongle for the ZIP projector, allowing you to use the ZIP with media sources that do not feature screen mirror capabilities, such as the Nintendo Switch. PowerPlay is a magnetic charging stand for the ZIP, housing a 10,000 battery and PD fast charging. This stand features up to 90 degrees of rotation, adjustable height, and the capability of extending the ZIP’s maximum playtime by up to three hours. Lastly, MagPlay is a mount for the ZIP that combines suction and magnets to affix the ZIP Projector on vertical surfaces of your choice.

We definitely liked what we saw briefly from Aurzen’s ZIP projector on the show floor. While the end product MSRP is looking to be $399, there are still purchase options available now on Kickstarter, ranging from $199 to $299.
