Westworld Season One BluRay

Created for television by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin – exploring a world in which every human appetite, not matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. Exploring what it means to be human through the eyes of the lifelike AI “hosts” in the park, the series investigates the boundaries of an exotic world set at the intersection of the near future and the re-imagined past.

Meticulously crafted and artfully designed. Westworld offers its guests an unparalleled, immersive world where they have the freedom to become who they’ve always wanted to be – or who they never knew they were. No rules, no laws, no judgment. Live without limits. Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright and more star in this one hour drama series from Bad Robot Production and Kilter Films.

The series’ debut on HBO garnered the network’s highest viewership ratings for a premiere since the first episode of True Detective in 2014 and Westworld ranks as the most-watched first season of a HBO original series ever. Westworld has received positive reviews by critics, with particular praise for the visuals, story, and acting.

AN AWESOME STORY, Gripping, action packed, will send you down a rollercoaster of edge of your seat, twisting & Turning excitement that will leave you BEGGING FOR MORE!!!! I Haven’t wanted to watch a series as much as this one since Stranger Things!!! I can’t wait till SEASON 2!!!! This is some of the best and most complex science fiction available and brilliantly executed. Sometimes it is difficult to follow sequences of events because for the hosts memories operate differently with lives resetting, “loops” after each “death”. This leads to a mystery which evolves throughout the series. A sophisticated drama which requires an investment of attention for the payoff. However what a payoff to see the emergence of sentience in the robot hosts, especially Dolores and Teddy as well as Maeve. Loosely based on “Westworld” movies in the 1970’s and novel by Michael Crichton who gave us Jurassic Park.

HBO did a great job adapting this for TV. Have always liked the original film this is a welcomed addition. Intricate story that is well acted and executed give plenty of reason to rewatch it. Plenty of twists can’t wait to see where they go with season two. Audio and video are top of the line and features are informative and not over long. Packaging is very nice with good artwork along with a neat booklet. Highly recommended specially to fans of films like Ex Machina.

Westworld was shown on HBO with a 5.1 soundtrack, which is encoded here in lossless DTS-HD MA. The mix is full of atmospheric surround cues, effectively re-creating the vast outdoor spaces of the park as well as the industrial whispers of the maintenance and management areas. Dynamic range is broad, lending authority to gun battles and other sonic accompaniments to violence. Discrete rear channel effects occur routinely, while the dialogue remains firmly anchored to the front, clearly articulated and well-prioritized. The track is especially effective in reproducing the mixture of instrumental and electronic sounds employed by the composer whose haunting theme opens each episode and whose use of a tinkling player piano is one of the series’ recurrent motifs.
