Plantronics Voyager 5200 & Charge Cradle review

PLT 5200 (3)

I love Bluetooth mono headset.  To say I am a fan is more of an understatement; I would consider my self an aficionado, but gives me a level of pretension I would attempt to avoid in this review.  Needless to say, I love them – simply put.  So upon receiving the Plantronics Voyager 5200 and Charging case – I was both skeptical and excited at the same time.  Now I have had 3 Plantronic Bluetooth headsets previously – and I have absolutely no complaints about any of them.  They typify the over-ear wrap approach that while I do not mind, it isn’t what I prefer as it feels like it hangs on your ear.

However, the model Voyager 5200 from Plantronics offers a new level of crispness and clarity that is second to none.  Every single day, I find myself outside rain or shine, on the phone with someone and the Voyager 5200 minimizes the background noise to allow for a clearer, easier conversation.  The incoming audio offers a crystal clear sound that makes for an enjoyable conversational experience.  An example of this would be that – Even though I have my phone connected to my car, I prefer to use the Plantronics Voyager 5200 as it give superior clarity, and a more pleasant conversation for all parties involved.  It has a level of comfort I am not used to on the over ear design – I forget it is there.  With that – it makes for a very comfortable experience.

The case/charger is something to behold.  As I write this, I am  on a cross-country flight to LAX, and the case has already fully charged Voyager 5200 in less than an hour.  In fact, the Voyager 5200 died on me last night after an intense day of use.  I tossed it into the charging case, and about 30 Min later,  got a call. I sighed, wished and hoped, grabbed the Voyager 5200 and turned it on – in the 30 minutes (Or less, actually), it gave me 67% charge, and 4 hrs of talk time.  I was floored – the battery was charged so quickly I was stunned.  With this, you get about 3 charges before needing to charge the case.  I find it incredibly handy – Put the Voyager 5200 in the case, hit the button, and you can toss it in your bag, on your desk, in a pocket (very handy – and easy) and it takes care of it for you.

If you are a traveler, and a Bluetooth lover – this is a must have.  I have played softball while wearing a Bluetooth, and holding work conversation, so my level of functionality and necessity runs high – and the Plantronics Voyager 5200 And the charging case exceeded my expectations on every level.  If this is the future for Plantronics Bluetooth headsets – all I have to say is MORE!
