Introducing The Optimus Elite is eco-friendly, with “ULE Platinum Certification—the highest in the industry—for the high percentage of recycled plastics in its casing, improved energy efficiency and carbon-free certification.” The eco-friendly user will love it. It is a great bargain for an Android. It has a comfortable, sleek design, with rubberized backing, chrome detailing, and is fairly thin at less than half an inch. Its dimensions are 4.58″x 2.47″x 0.39″, and weighs 4.25ox. The screen is a 3.5-inch LCD display at 320×480 resolution. It has a 800MHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 1GB built-in storage, and expandable memory of up to 32GB of additional storage. For network and connectivity, it is on Sprint’s network and is both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capable.

The operating system is Android 2.3, and is very easy to use. To help users customize their Android, the main screen defaults to a basic Sprint ID for you to customize to your own application preferences. You can then browse through other themed ID’s to download. Once your new ID’s are in place, you can switch between them. For each ID Pack, shortcuts for applications in that theme are preloaded. Facebook and Twitter each had their original mobile apps, but also “friendcaster” and “tweetcaster”. The drop down notification bar is convenient and easy to use.

Camera and video quality were both crisp and clear. Photos were easy to edit and upload to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Although the video isn’t HD, it is still good quality for mobile phone use. The 5MP camera is front facing only, so a bit harder to take self portraits, and makes Skype useful for calls and chat only, no video.

Battery life

Also featured is the Google Wallet application. which securely stores your credit card information. You can then use your LG to pay for purchases where Google Wallet is honored. Through Sprint, if you purchase and activate the Optimus Elite before 7-18, and activate Google Wallet within 7 days, you receive a $25 in Google Wallet credits.

Overall the is a very good quality handset. You can’t beat the price, so it is perfect for the user who is just getting started with data use and apps.
