Nokia Lumia 2520: A Sexy & refreshing Windows 8.1 Tablet
We knew it was only going to be a matter of time Nokia would make a Windows-based Tablet. The Lumia 2520 comes in as an astounding well crafted piece that has the Lumia feel all over; which is a good thing. the Lumia 2520 tablet comes with Windows 8.1 (RT), on a vivid 10.1-inch HD display that is designed to provide the best outdoor and indoor readability of any tablet and it shows. Building on Nokia’s rich mobility heritage, the Lumia 2520 combines both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, providing users a Windows 8 tablet that is truly mobile and untethered—with AT&T & Verizon 4G LTE bands. It also comes with a a 6.7 megapizel Carl Ziess lens camera. Which to my surprisingly to some very stellar photos and solid video quality at 1080p with a not so great audio, but be the judge with our camera sample video here. The Lumia 2520 is powered by the modern-day mobile beast known as the snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of ram; boy does it run butter smooth. Nokia and Qualcomm have crafted a high performance tablet in an ultra skill design and I like its sexiness.
A to be expected with any Nokia Windows venture, the company has taken it upon itself to create a few applications to highlight the features and effectiveness of the Lumia 2520. Lets start with the Nokia Camera app, which should
give you close to the same feel of custom ability you find on your Lumia 1020 or 1520. The version of the app we tested out in the review didn’t come with such levels of manual functionality, but still is an upgrade from the stock app. Then there is Here maps, which brings better mapping to your tablet and greater map functionality that works in tandem with the Nokia storyteller app. the app sorts all your photos, videos and cinemagraphs into interactive groups called stories. You have a timeline, where you can browse all your stories and modify theme, sort videos and pictures by locations and find out what is and was around where you took the photo.
While the Nokia video editor, is the prime app that takes advantage of all aspects of the Lumia 2520, from the Snapdragon 800 processor, stunning 1080p display, and ram gives you the ability to edit and create your own videos for prime time. The app is simple and easy to use, which is essential for anything to be used effectively on a table.
The Nokia lumia 2520 is what Microsoft needs to compliment the Surface two and build the growth of Windows 8 in the tablet arena. Nokia has crafted a tablet that rivals any on the market, yes that includes the iPad air. for starters you have got a tablet in the Lumia 2520 that has solid industry standard specs with built-in 4G LTE for just $399 under contract. A slew of applications from Nokia that help take advantage of the device, power and perfamce from the snapdragon 800 that brings legitimate tablet gaming to Windows 8.1 and yes it rocks (gaming video). Plus more than 12hrs battery life on LTE, makes this a very solid buy. You still have all the Windows 8.1 perks, like office 2013 installed and free Skydrive storage. Now is there more that could be done here, yes I would have loved a regular USB port ( but it would make it thick), and that’s where my complaint ends. I am not going to pick and chose between the Lumia 2520 and the Surface 2. We shall say that for another day. But I can say that this has to be the best LTE capable tablet on the Market running any OS and its also the damn sexiest too. I recommend the Lumia 2520 as a definite buy and one well worth it.
