New iPad 4G LTE Review on Verizon

20120402_111920[ad#ad-1]The New iPad is one that brings in some old an New. Design wise it looks like the iPad 2, in almost every facet expect for a few key changes both external and internal. First of it packs a 9.7-inch Retina display with resolution at 2048×1536. 44% greater saturation ( Simple put- it looks beautiful). Internally its got a new A5X quad-core graphics processor, . Apple even claims its newest sliver of silicon can deliver four-times the performance of a Tegra 3. An 5-megapixel iSight backside illuminated sensor on the back, 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip.Voice dictation. The iPad also comes in flavors of 21Mbps HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA at 42Mbps, with LTE taking the cake at 73Mbps, with LTE on AT&T and Verizon. In our review we ill be looking at the Verizon 4G LTE iPad which I must say lives up to the billing. Grabbing some impressive 4G LTE speeds of upward to 33Mbps, making sure you got internet connection at high-speed wherever you go.

Gaming On the New iPad

One thing the iPad had going for it when it first lunched was the innovation it brought to hand held gaming. The iPad became the champion for touch screen gaming everywhere. With some complaining that the smaller screen of the iPhone was insufficient for long gaming sessions. The IPad was uniquely sized and powerful to be considered a competent gaming platform. The iPad has since brought us gaming franchises like Epic Games’ Infinity blade. The original infinity blade on the iPad was lauded as being the best looking games on any handheld device at its time. The gesture control was at the time, and still is the best implementation of user controls on a touch screen device, in this writers opinion.

Fast forward to the new iPad and its quad core graphics chip. I spend more time playing infinity Blade 2 (recently updated for the new iPad) than I do the new installation of Naruto on my console. Why, because the look and feel of the game on the iPad makes it easy to immerse myself. And I can play in the subway, during my lunch breaks, at the café, and the list goes on.

How does the new iteration of the iPad stack up to its predecessors when it comes to gaming? It simply and easily blows them away. Over the years and with the lunch of the iPad 2 (which I never upgraded to) each update to the original infinity blade made it more difficult for the original iPad to keep up. Finally the arrival on Infinity blade 2 in Dec 2011, drew the line in the sand for this gaming series on the original iPad platform. I couldn’t lunch the game on my device.

Responsiveness

With the new iPad and the game lunches smoothly and responds significantly better to gesture controls. When performing combos during the game it is a lot easier to execute than with the original IPad after the numerous upgrades to the original infinity blade.

Graphics

Although not originally created for the new iPad, Infinity Blade 2 has been updated for the retina display, and I must say it is a sight to behold. The graphics in this game are in my opinion slightly better than its iPad 2 variant, but what stands out are the colors. The game looks and feels like it belongs on a console (read PS2).

Thoughts

The iPad delivers a good argument for why dedicated handheld games might go the way of the dinosaurs. It is important that Infinity Blade 2 as mentioned earlier was originally an iPad 2 title and only its graphics has been optimized for the new iPad. I am really looking forward to seeing what games created for the platform will look and feel like when released, Infinity Blade: Dungeons anyone?

5MP camera

Finally the iPad has a decent camera, the 5-megapixel iSight backside illuminated sensor on the back, 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip records at 1080p and does a fantastic job at it. also in taking still it  does a very good job as you can see in the video above. For a tablet this is a step up, with only the Asus Transformer prime warranting recognition to this feat, with its 8 Megapixel Camera

Conclusion

The New iPad comes in to consolidate Apple’s position as the market leader, in the process adding  features that is sure to entice customers in  their purchase process. The new retina display for the iPad is gorgeous and well deserving of all the praise. The A5X quad-core graphics processor does an impeccable job at gaming as you can see in the video review. Plus the addition of 4G LTE with Verizon is a huge plus, giving you the simple ability to be untethered on the Go.  Plus the Battery life with LTE is truly remarkable, with about 10hrs use with 4G LTE from Verizon. In all the New Apple iPad is not too different from the iPad 2 but the additions to it make it a worthwhile purchase
