LifeProof Case for iPhone 4/4S Review- Turns iPhone into a rugged machine

20120414_222851[ad#ad-1] The LifeProof case for the iPhone 4/4s is what I call a breath of fresh air. How many times have you seen a friend or someone down the street walk by with an iPhone with a shattered screen or cracked edges? A lot!! There are numerous armored cases in the market today that aim to protect your iPhone 4/4s from either dust, water or shock, though they tend to look and feel like thermo–nuclear packs that weigh a ton. So here comes LifeProof, an iPhone case solution that not only is lightweight at 28g (an ounce), but also uniquely shaped to fit your iPhone 4/4s neatly without adding any bulk to it (1.5mm thick). Compatible with all iPhone 4 and 4S models (AT&T, Sprint and Verizon).

So what are the protection claims of this wonder case from LifeProof? LifeProof protects against everyday hazards with full IP-68 rating against water and dust. Ability to swim and take underwater (2 meters/6.6ft depth). Optional Swimming Headphone Adapter allows use of waterproof headphones underwater. High degree of shock and impact protection, with fully sealed protection against minute dust particles, tested to Military Specifications MIL-STD-810F-516.5 (2 meters/6.6ft drop on all surfaces and edges. 26 tests). The LifeProof case pretty much the case turns your iPhone into the Samsung Rugby Smart or Casio, which are smartphones specifically built to handle such damage. If that’s the case (no pun intended). Lets see how well the LifeProof Works in those same conditions.  Check the video below to see how well an iPhone 4 holds up in water, heat, and shock tests when protected by the LifeProof case.

Conclusion

The LifeProof case passed the tests with flying colors.  It is shock proof, dust proof, survived the heat from the dryer, and also played music pretty well while submerged in a bucket of water.  I think it’s pretty cool that the LifeProof case  actually got better audio quality with music playback off the iPhone speakers with the case, which acts as a sub-woofer.  It’s priced at $79.99.  While  you can find other military grade protective cases for less, I assure you that aesthetically, the other cases don’t measure up.  They all resemble bricks or 1984 cellphone packs, which are heavy and not what most consumers are looking for. The LifeProof case is slick, durable, and appealing.  It comes in black, pink, purple and white, and it’s definitely worth the price.
