Lenovo Y70 Touch Review: Crysis 3 Gameplay

Y70[ad#co-1]

With the Y70, Lenovo continues to show us that they are willing to experiment with the many features and nuances of windows 8. From a design perspective the Y70 is a refinement of what we’ve seen from the Y40 and Y50 before it, but thinner and slicker, albeit packing a massive 17-inch display. Did I mention that this laptop has a 17-inch display? Yes, it is the largest touch laptop currently produced by Lenovo. With a 10 point multi-touch and a Full HD display, it’s going to be tough to keep your hands off this one. The multi-touch feature might seem a bit gimmicky at first until you realize the potential for interaction with content while video editing, or playing certain games that allow for the feature. Windows 8 as a whole is very touch friendly and if nothing else, this feature is a great way to navigate the Operating System. The Y70 by Lenovo is positioned as a video editing, social sharing and gaming device, and it can do all this with the help of the GTX 860M discrete graphics with 4GB of GDDR5 memory from Nvidia. Our gaming sessions left us impressed with the amount of gaming power the Y70 packs under the hood. Adding to that power is the 4th generation i7 processor from Intel, clocking in at 2.5 GHz and 16GB of memory. The combination of these features renders this device capable of some pretty impressive feats, delivering on the promise of a device that can edit video and game while keeping up with your social networks (sharing videos, pics, music, etc.).

Other features of this device are 2xUSB 3.0, USB 2.0, 4-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, SDXC, SDHC), HDMI, SPDIF, RJ45, Audio Combo Jack, up to 5 hours of battery time, Dolby Advanced Audio v2, Integrated HD 720p Camera and a 1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSHD. With a solid feature set, and enough power to handle any productivity or entertainment tasks you throw at it, the Lenovo Y70 is definitely a laptop that should be on your short list, especially if you are looking for a great production machine that you wouldn’t have to move too often but can also deliver a great gaming experience.
