Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Review

IMG_6096[ad#ad-1]In my opinion, the ThinkPad Carbon X1 from Lenovo, marked a turning point in design and functionality for the industry, melding outstanding design and raw power in a business ready device. Lenovo, has now updated this landmark device with the inclusion of a TouchScreen in the Carbon X1 Touch. From the first moment you took a look at the Touch variant to its popular ultrabook, it is clear that Lenovo has come quite a ways from the industrial / impersonal design of the former IBM line of laptops. While retaining its business ready look the Carbon X1 family of ultrabooks, keeps up with the design mentality of the BYOD movement. This being said, Lenovo has improved on an already great product with the introduction of the Carbon X1 Touch. While not as thin or as light as its predecessor it still showcases the amazing design of recent Lenovo products and definitely delivers on functionality.

Sporting an Intel core i5 processor at 2.8 GHz, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, it’s quite clear that the internal specs remains unchanged from its non-Touch sibling. What has changed is the inclusion of a capacitive touch screen with a maximum resolution of 1600×900, which has resulted in an added thickness of 2mm and less than half a pound of added weight. This change updates an already popular ultrabook, making it much more usable with the newest operating system from Microsoft.

Overall, my experience with the ThinkPad X1 carbon touch was overwhelmingly positive, while it brings nothing new to the table in terms of performance and form factor, what it does is modernize an already stellar device with the addition of the touchscreen.
