Honor Review 6X – Great Starter Budget for 2017

 [ad#co-1]
Can you say “Budget Wow”? We got our hands on the Honor 6X after the CES 2017 press conference, which boasted great specs, but you know how it goes. What is the real scoop? This year we all found ourselves reporting more from our smartphones at CES than our higher end cameras, so improvements on our mobile devices are crucial.
The Honor 6x has the same 5.5 inch screen as the Honor 5x, but instead has a Bezier curved designed metal body that makes it appear more high end than expected.  The housing is scratch resistant for those of us who are accident prone. The curved glass edges result in a comfortable feel and touch, and already comes with a screen protector. Currently the Honor 6X is running on Android 6.1 but will upgrade this year to Nougat 7.0. And EMUI 5.0. One differentiating feature could be their Wifi-Bridge, which allows other devices to use yours as their hotspot.

“Double or Nothing” is the tagline for this new device, which leads to the dual lens. The rear facing camera has two lenses, 12mp and 2mp. The front facing camera is 8mp. Huawei/Honor’s camera options give you so much to play with!!!!! The dual lens enables quite a few features. Splash mode allows you to convert to black and white but with splashes of color. After Capture Focus allows you to flip back and forth between focusing on specific objects while blurring others after you’ve already taken the picture. The camera menu is very convenient, which a few common links at the top, and side swipe to give you a fuller menu of options. A  few of my other favorites are the Video Enhancer, Wide Aperture Range, and Fast Auto Focus.
Call me vain, but the new Beauty options are great!! You can either use a standard Beauty option, or go through a couple of quick steps to use the “Perfect Selfie” option. This guides you through a front photo, side photo, then one looking down. You can then determine and adjust the level of Smooth, Whiten, Enlarge Eyes, Bright Eyes,  and Thinner Face. When you take a selfie, it gives you a tiny window and timer instructing you where to look, and then snaps the picture. If you fiddle with it enough, you can make your own goofy wide eyed pictures of yourself.
Pricing for the Honor 6x is the icing on the cake. The 3GB Ram 32GB Rom is $249.99, and the 4GB Ram 64GB Rom is $299.99, and they come in Gray, Gold and Silver.
