Sources close to Summer tell us … the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago … who says she didn’t seem too bad.
In fact, we’re told she was focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on.
Summer was a 5-time Grammy winner who shot to superstardom in the ’70s with iconic hits like “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls.”

My buddies have Powerbag backpacks and messenger bags, and on our last couple of trips, I was constantly asking them to charge one of my many phones in their bag. Well I finally have my own!!!

The Business Class Pack is perfect for those long travel days. It can reportedly charge your average smartphone up to 4 times. So who wouldn’t find this convenient? You simply plug-in the powerbag to charge it up, using the enclosed AC charger, and water-resistant charging port. The removable 6000mAh Lithium Polymer battery can be replaced with a more high-powered one if you intend to charge a laptop. Once it is charged, simply press the power button at the bottom front of the bag, and you are ready to charge!

The dimensions of the bag are 12″ x 8″ x 18″, and it weighs 3.11 lbs. For those of us with multiple phones, there are two small side pockets. The top front compartment hides your charging cords. These include Apple, Micro-USB, Mini-USB cables. There is a small zip pocket to store your AC adapter for the bag itself. The next front pocket hides your battery, but also has a velcro tab pocket for a Tablet. The battery also has a USB port for charging laptops and other Tablets. The main compartment has pockets for miscellaneous office items, and is roomy enough for books, weekend clothes, or whatever you need it for. The back compartment can fit a 15′ laptop, or another Tablet. The fun part is the new “Checkpoint Friendly” FlyFlat design compartment. You simply unzip and lay your bag flat, with your laptop inside for TSA screening at the airport.

After seeing older models in use, I have no doubt that this will be a lifesaver for me. Smaller backpacks, messenger bags, briefcases, and additional batteries can be found on their website, http://www.mypowerbag.com/.

It has a front-facing camera with VGA resolution, a dual-core TI OMAP processor powering it is clocked at a lower 1GHz. Still, the 1024 x 600 TFT LCD display remains intact, as does the 3-megapixel rear camera, microSD slot and IR blaster. The Samsung galaxy Tab 2 7.0 measures in at 10.5mm versus 9.96mm. Still, despite that extra padding it weighs the same as its older sibling: 345 grams, or about 0.76 pounds. Running Android 4.0 with TouchWiz overlay( Not TouchWiz Nature UX)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, is a device I think is well priced for what it offers. It runs smoothly and it is the most cost effective Android 4.0 ICS tablet on the market at $250. Samsung has uniquely positioned this against the Kindle fire which goes for $200 and is the lead Android Tablet on the market. For my money and take I would recommend the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Its running android 4.0 and it does it very smoothly, with no hiccups, you have got a decent camera and can web chat. Though its only $50 more than the Kindle fire., the Samsung Galaxy Tab at that price offers more in terms of full Google PlayStore access, IR blaster functionality which works tremendously well and easy to use. Hopefully Samsung can market this well to make a dent into Amazon’s kindle Fire market hold. Looking for a budget Android tablet running ICS, The galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the way to go.

I’ve been told by many that I have “Mad Shoe Game”. Ok I can live with that! What I refuse to do is break the bank by paying a lot, so yes I bargain shop (hey I rhyme). So here is my shoe-cycle, along with some event finds.

At the beginning of each season, I make myself go through a shoe overhaul (which makes quite a few friends happy for hand-me-downs), and try on Each and every pair. If I didn’t wear them at all, or can’t remember the last time I wore them, then they go away. There are a few exceptions. If they are so unique, and I can say I will wear them in the future, then they stay. Ummmmmmm…. Yes you guessed it…the main mission of this exercise is to get an inventory of what you have and what you will realistically wear, but the benefit is…you just made room for new fabulous shoes.
Who really NEEDS 100 pair of shoes? Well no one, but there are certain staples. You need work appropriate shoes if you are in a business or business casual setting. But what about the rest? weekend shoes, event shoes, walking shoes, etc. After working in retail for far too long, I realized that my flat feet couldn’t handle zero padding in the sole, nor an arch that’s too high. The answers to my comfort dilemma are “platform” and “wedge”, which seems pretty basic. Most will have rubber soles, and quite a lift off the pavement, giving me the excuse to say my feet are more cushioned (with the exception of wooden soles.)

The best benefit is they make me taller. Hey, I’m only 5’3″. Haha you thought I was taller, didn’t you?
Price is a factor with such an obsession, so be diligent. You can impulse buy, as long as there is a bargain, coupon, etc. I manage to DELETE shopping emails, unless it says a significant other % off. They have to be pretty impressive shoes for me to spend over $35. So after using coupon dollars on DSW, and one afternoon at Wrentham outlets, I found the following:

Sole addiction: fake cork wedge, acorn colors faux leather, with off-white stitching…..DSW $29 after coupon
Kenneth Cole: espadrille wedge…Kenneth Cole outlet $30….great everyday summer work shoe.

Jessica Simpson wins!…1. Beige patent leather, chunky sole, light and strappy
2. Tri-color platform sandal, fun colors, will brighten up any outfit
Vincent Camuto outlet 2 for $68!!!!!

I must go now, and plan my outfits around my new shoes…. Till next time!!!!!!

There’s actually a name to go along with it: Jonathan Rothbart. Apparently the visual effects supervisor doubles as an IMDB user who just couldn’t keep what he saw of the film a secret for very long. His alleged — not yet confirmed post — reads:

Spoiler Read at your own Risk…….. But is sounds Awesome

“I’m a visual effects supervisor for the upcoming film After.Earth, the M. Night picture. I’ve also done work on Avatar, Iron Man, and Sin City. I’m on IMDb. I’ll admit I check my own page from time to time. It feels good.

I frequent this board often, I’m a huge comic book fan (as shown by the movies I’ve worked on). Last night at a VFX conference there was a sizzle reel shown by Weta. In this sizzle reel there were two beta level(most likely from a trailer) clips shown. One only about 6 seconds long, the other much longer.

The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.

The longer clip was even more stunning, but the more I think about it, slightly concerning. The clip consisted of Superman in full costume in a verbal argument with Zod in the center of Smallville with Christopher Meloni yells at them through a megaphone next to a tank. Meloni warns them he will fire if they do not surrender. While he says this Zod sizes Superman up. Shannon looks evil as he can be. Bone chilling even. And is DEFINITELY sporting enhanced muscle. Cavill’s Superman is a wonderful sight to behold in motion. Cavill’s pure size makes him the most believable Superman to date. Zod speaks in Kryptonian ‘Do you know your native tongue, Kal-el?’ Superman looks stunned, and responds in English, ‘Who are you?’ (there isn’t enough Superman dialogue to judge Cavill’s performance fairly, but I’d say he did well. Nothing spectacular from this clip.) Meloni curses, then into a walkie talkie orders the tank to fire. Superman hears this and turns to the tank. Zod takes this opportunity to sucker punch Superman(in Zack Snyder slow-then-fast-mo) then when the tank fires Superman rushes in front of Zod, despite the punch and catches the exploding missile near his stomach. The flames ripple around him, hit his face, his cape, his eyes. The shrapnel hits him and bounces off. The same happens to Zod to a lesser extent. Meloni’s shocked expression when they remain standing, silhouettes in a cloud of smoke, ends the clip.

It was incredible, it really was. And absolutely visually stunning, but my qualm is its typical Zack Snyder. It doesn’t look glossy like his films do. It instead has a more clean cut, colorful look. Like Thor, or Iron Man. But it is the same slow-mo styling that people expect from him. Maybe it just happens in this one scene, but it happens twice. Makes me a bit hesitant, despite the fact it looks phenomenal.“

AMD’s first round of Trinity APUs is available starting today, from manufacturers like Asus, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Toshiba and Acer — with desktop systems and components rolling out next quarter.

AMD HD Media Accelerator suite Features

AMD Perfect Picture HD: The first step in that transparent user experience is automatic video processing, which will make fine adjustments to image quality on the fly. We were told that this will ultimately come at a cost to potential battery life, albeit a meager one.

AMD Quickstream: Most of us spend a fair bit of time watching videos on the web, and have run into the dreaded buffering bar. Quickstream aims to handle bandwidth intelligently: when the PC detects that an application or website is hitting the GPU, Quickstream will assign it a higher priority, theoretically ensuring a smoother experience.

AMD Video Converter: Dedicated hardware-based encoding lets Trinity transcode media files faster and more efficiently. The technology also enables full-HD, multi-person video conferencing; AMD is working with companies like Polycom to develop software.

AMD Steady Video: We’ve seen Steady Video before; it was introduced with Llano, and its purpose is to, stabilize shaky recorded video. It’s currently supported by Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Windows Media Player — Trinity adds support for VLC, in an upcoming software update.

AMD Eyefinity: Eyefinity isn’t new, but Trinity will be able to support the multi-display technology without needing a discrete GPU: that means ultrathin laptops that can potentially output to three displays — not including their native monitor.

FXI Cotton Candy had been dubbed the worlds smallest computer in a thumb drive; development units went on preorder in February of 2012 and was expected to ship in March of 2012.Now that march has come and going and we are well into May; some have begun to call the device vaporware. So we put out a call to FXI TECH with some pertinent questions about their the status of Cotton Candy…….

I Want Candy – Official Statement

The Cstick Cotton Candy development units are delayed beyond the original March ship date, due to some hardware modifications and extended software testing. Scandinavian pre-orders start shipping this month, with the balance of the pre-orders shipping throughout the Summer. At this time, pre-orders are closed as we have gone beyond our expected volume of orders.

Questions

1. Since taking Pre-orders in February with an expected available date in March, which has come and gone. Some are calling the FXI Cotton Candy Vaporware, what do you say to that?

Answer- FXI decided to change the plastic cover on the device. This change has allowed us to also add a micro USB port for adding more input devices and peripherals. The new plastic also enhances the durability of the product. We have included some photos of the final plastics and packaging taken right off of our production line. It’s looking great! Cotton Candy will be very nice to carry in a purse, briefcase or pocket and will remain protected with its’ rubber USB and HDMI covers.

2. How soon can we expect a release?

Answer- Development units will begin shipping this month and the balance of the orders will be fulfilled throughout the Summer. Orders are being delivered first to those in our hometown of Norway and Scandinavia, closely followed by other geographical regions. You will be notified by email when your pre-order is ready to ship, and at that time, you will be asked to pay for the device. Be sure to respond promptly!

FXI Cotton Candy branded consumer device delivery will be better estimated as we move forward in the development process, therefore at this time we do not wish to estimate an exact date.

3. Your closest competitor in the market is the Raspberry Pi, how do you differentiate yourself from them?

Answer- Truly, we don’t see them as a competitor. If anything, the popularity of their device validates the form factor of micro-computing, however, their product has a very specific target audience that requires much different feature sets and performance points, and that’s education. Cotton Candy has much higher performing components as well as patented and patent-pending FXI USB functionality for any screen (including laptops) computing. We are rooting for the success of Raspberry Pi. Our respective target markets are plenty big enough for each of us.

4. The FXI Cotton Candy will be launching with ICS, so can we expect a custom UI overlay or will it be running stock Android?

Answer- The first development devices will support standard Android. The Cstick Cotton Candy platform brings immense value to a variety of consumer electronics devices and markets, including but not limited to, Cloud Service Partners, Content and Game Publishers, IPTV and OTT Operators, Mobile Device Vendors, Mobile Operators, Mobile Phone Makers, and PC Makers. Therefore, in addition to the FXI Cotton Candy, we expect a variety of unique OEM branded products will be making their way to market in different form factors.

5. In the past you mention support for several OS, besides Android. Windows and Ubuntu to be specific. What is the time line for those versions release?

Answer-Currently the plan is to support Android ICS and Ubuntu Linux.

6. Looking towards the future, will you be offering different models, in terms of specs?

Answer- While FXI plans to intro its own device, the company is truly developing a micro-computing platform. Cotton Candy has garnered a great deal of interest from commercial partners. We have been approached about a wide range of global commercial and strategic partnerships, which are in development and may have different features or form factors, but we are not able to discuss these at this time. That said, some of the vertical markets we are driving forward include Cloud Service Partners, Content and Game Publishers, IPTV and OTT Operators, Mobile Device Vendors, Mobile Operators, Mobile Phone Makers, and PC Makers.

At FXI, we strive to provide you with the most complete version of the product that you were expecting, and for that reason delays have happened. We hope this helps clarify the current status of deliveries. Please keep an eye out in the next few weeks for photos and video from the lab. Ongoing updates will be available via our newsletter, the FXI blog, on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and within the Cotton Candy community – www.cstick.com.

So there you have it; delay was caused by hardware change, in design and additions. First set of preorders will ship this month, with Norwegian and Scandinavian preorders shipping first and the rest will be throughout the summer. We hope to get a review unit soon. We we will tell you how well the device fares. Till then enjoy the renders and stay tuned for more updates.
