DCIM100MEDIAAre you looking for sound on a budget? The Coda by may be perfect for you.  The first thing that I noticed was how lightweight they are. The outer casing is a matte black plastic. The cushioning at the top of the headband definitely contributes to it’s comfort. It is a soft faux leather covering that easily fit over my ears. The headband adjusts on either side for size.
The cord is thin and tangle resistant. The mic/remote button is convenient and works well. Right on the box you will find instructions on how to use the music controls by how many clicks. For calls this also acts as your answer or end call button.
Nice volume! You are getting good sound quality for the price. For average everyday use they work just fine. (Although the volume was nice and loud, try not to compare the clarity to a higher end headset.)
Most sites list the Coda for roughly $25 or so. This is a great buy. These days most headphones are ranging well over $100, and I know many folks that just won’t spend that much. Yet they think all that is available are little earplugs for that price.

HTC One Stealth Black -12I’ve had my One for over two months, so here’s what it’s like to live with.
Instead of re-writing everything that has already been said by the myriad of online reviews, this is my experience using this phone as a consumer. Forget specs, let’s talk usability.
An important fact to remember is that unlike most reviewers I am effectively stuck with my One until I cough up another £600 for a device (I buy them off contract, <3 giffgaff). With this in mind am I wholly satisfied with my purchase? In a word, yes.
I use my phone everyday as a music player, phone, primary connection to the net, note pad, device, and as my only camera. It serves all these functions to perfection, and the battery life is easily enough to keep me going 13+ hours.
So forget the good stuff, what are the negatives?
I made a Google keep document when I first got the phone in which I’ve written down every negative angle with which I can attack it; the angles are limited. It gets a bit hot when you game whilst charging (easily remedied by cutting the CPU); there’s a persistent notification for the power save, which is annoying if you’re as anal as I am about keeping my notification bar empty; and the soft key combination takes a few days to get used to. Oh, and I don’t like the grey and green they use in the notification bar, black and blue looks so much better.
The main negative I could come up with, note my choice of verb, is that I don’t like bits of Sense 5. I love the general look, and some features such as zoes and highlights are a joy to use, but it removes several things that I love in stock android- most notably notification toggles. This is easily remedied with an app but it is something that should have been there out of the box.
As well as the lack of toggles the amount of clocks that are present on the One is ridiculous. Out of the box there is a clock on the homescreen, a clock straddling blink feed, a clock atop the app drawer and one in the notification bar (oh and one on the lock screen too). Seriously HTC, why?
Granted this is hardly a make or break deal but an option to turn at least some of them off would have been refreshing. Of course you can forget this of you use a custom launcher; nova launcher on the One is bliss.
Another gripe I have with Sense 5 is that to change the wallpaper you have to dig into the settings menu. Again, not a big deal, but a jarring intermission in what is an otherwise intuitive and elegant experience.
All these issues are easy to fix, and that really is the bottom line of my experience with the One. I cannot fault the hardware of the device, the screen, the camera, the feel in the hand are all fantastic (as other reviews have covered in exhaustive length), and what issues I’ve had with it I’ve been able to remedy with ease.
For me the One highlights the power of Android as an OS, a marriage of exquisite hardware with software that is easy to bend exactly to your tastes.
For me, as a geek, Android phones don’t need the plethora of gimmicks/features on the s4; I can do everything I want on my One using third party apps and a few rooted hacks.
Ultimately android is now such a consummate OS in terms of application variety, functionality, customizability and hackability, that I  care only about the hardware of an android phone, and for me the One has the best hardware to date.
To sum up:
I handle my phone everyday, and the One is a symphony in visual and tactile design. And the speakers are b(l)oomin’ incredible.

Man of Steel-1The Wait is finally over, as a fan. Its been way too long since we got a good . Which was last in the 80s with II- ( please don’t mention Returns. that was an abomination). Enter , directed by of the 300 and watchmen fame, written by David Goyer and Produced by Christopher Nolan. Now this has no Spoilers so you can keep reading and watching.

So Man of Steel I absolutely loved it. this was a coming over age Superman Movie. A Movie about two fathers and a movie that should the importance of parentage and how that helps in molding character. Simply put Superman isn’t all powerful because of his DNA or our yellow Superman. That was the theme that resonated throughout this movie

is Superman he embodied the role has Clark Kent on the Farm, Kal-el the Alien and eventually Superman. He was born for this role and nailed it perfectly. Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner as Jor-el and PA Kent were magnificent. You can truly see the men who molded Clark into Superman. Diane Lane was great as MA Kent even though she had little screen time. Michael Shannon as General Zod was menacing and had duty bound nature to his role but it was  but it was  Antje Traue as Faora that stole the show for me. In her little screen time and even fewer lines. All I have to say is I don’t want to even mess with her. then there is Amy Adams as Lois Lane, she was solid and to me more of the reporter than other version of  the character. Some may argue her presence wasn’t much felt. But this was a story about Clark Kent/kal-el become Superman and Not Lois & Clark Story.

The Action- one word epic. This is the one movie that will redefine who action is shot in . You really felt the scale of Superman and the Kryptonians power and it was dam scary and I loved it. It was fierce and intense, with building getting wrecked left and right. I mean this movie had epicness written all over it.

Don’t get me wrong, Man of Steel isn’t perfect, it does suffer from some pacing issues; and some may argue that it didn’t have much humor to it, not a lot of other character development. But to that I say this was a realistic take on Superman in a film that asked the question how would you react if a Man Showed up that had all that power.

Overall Man Of Steel was a resounding success, in restarting the Superman franchise and leading to a justice league movie. Was it perfect? No. But it was an awesome movie, with everything you needed from emotional turns, to epic action like no we have seen on screen to date

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon-5In the growing genre of touch sensitive device, the all Table top is a small subset. While sharing the significant functionality with any regular (all in one) desktop, the Table top stands out with its extra set of features, features which have not yet been defined / standardized across manufacturer.

Enter the IdeaCenter Horizon. ’s attempt to create a standard that draws the line between a regular AIO and a true table top AIO. Possessing less input / connection options than a regular AIO, 2 USB, one HDMI, a headphone and mic  jack, and an sdcard slot to be exact, it does add some very compelling features such as 10 point multitouch, accessory recognition (think, dice, air hockey sticks, joysticks),a separate UI interface (AURA)  for its table top configuration, a Li-battery for un-tethered usage  and last but not least a 27 inch HD touch screen that makes it easily useable by more than 2 users.

While Lenovo touts the multi user feature (specifically the AURA UI) as the devices main attraction, after a few hours of use, it becomes quite obvious that this device is extremely versatile. The HDMI connection allows the screen to be used as an additional TV screen (Lenovo has been nice enough to include a source select feature). With a third generation Intel processor running at 1.7ghz, 8gb of RAM and 1TB of HDD space, this might not be the most powerful AIO but it should suffice for most regular PC usage.

Overall the table top PC sector is a small subset of the PC market, while not strictly defined, Lenovo has done a great job of striking the line between a regular AIO and a table top AIO. However, the pricing leaves a lot to be desired. At 1699.99 USD it’s be difficult to justify this niche purchase, however it bares consideration if you need a device that fulfills the functionality of a TV, PC and Board game rolled into one.

PS4-picAs a kid, I bought game consoles, one after the other starting with the NES at the age of 12. I saved Five bucks a day for A LONG TIME. Historically speaking, I’ve had a habit of choosing the wrong side of the fence, going almost exclusively with Sega, from Genesis on. My last console was the Sega Saturn. Life eventually got in the way (when I discovered girls!) and I sorta slowed down the game buying.

A year and a half ago, I picked up an Xbox 360. My brand loyalty played into it a little, I am a Certified Professional, and had recently had some cyber break-ins… Plus I wanted the Kinect for the kids. I had been quite happy with my 360, and in fact still am. My brand loyalty is out the window though.

With the recent unveilings of the and the , I’ve decided to change my allegiance, as far as video gaming is concerned. I will admit, the Xbox One has some neat features, what with controlling the TV and and all, but frankly I’m rather happy with how I watch TV and . It’s worked very well for me for the last ten years. I don’t need Microsoft stepping in.

I’m also not thrilled about the Kinect AND the internet being a requirement! For argument’s sake: MAYBE the rumors of Microsoft turning off movies when too many people are watching AREN’T true… Well good! But I ask, have you ever heard of a Microsoft product being hacked? Yeah, me too. I don’t need bored 13 year olds, hacking my system. I’m not too concerned with them watching me via the Kinect, because frankly, you REALLY want to see me sitting in my shorts, pounding beers, eating chips and playing , more power to you… But a constant internet connection opens a door that I don’t want there.

I’ve also enjoyed my Game Fly account to great extent, and I’d like to continue to do so. I buy games at GameStop, and I’d like to continue to do so. I don’t need my TV experienced enhanced at the expense of my gaming experience.

Xbox: Do it first, or do it best. Frankly, my TV has worked fine for many years, and I’m not interested in a faster switch over from game to TV for $500, or your money grubbing by disallowing the sharing of games, or the (possible) hosting of movie events. I’d much rather have a company focus on GAMING for $400.
