LONG BEACH, Calif. – Aug. 20, 2013 – Epson America, Inc. today announced its latest Epson® PowerLite® Home Cinema product, the 730HD 720p 3LCD projector, providing families and first-time home theater enthusiasts the power to harness an extremely bright and affordable widescreen experience at home, in the backyard or for the next get-together. The Home Cinema 730HD is one of Epson’s brightest projectors to date, boasting 3,000 lumens[i] of color brightness and 3,000 lumens of white brightness to deliver rich and brilliant image quality. Delivering a high-definition 720p widescreen experience and built-in sound the Home Cinema 730HD makes it easier than ever to watch blockbuster movies and sporting events on the big screen or play larger-than-life video games at up to 300-inches – indoors or out.

“The affordable Home Cinema 730HD offers big and bright HD experience ideal not only for movie-viewing in the living room, but its compact design, built-in sound and easy set up makes it great for just about anywhere – even outdoors,” said Jason Palmer, marketing manager, Epson America. “Whether you are playing video games in the man cave or watching TV in a well-lit room, the Home Cinema 750HD offers incredible big screen entertainment. In addition, users can choose from four different color modes to ensure the best possible quality and color.”

Featuring a suite of easy setup features for flexible placement, the Home Cinema 730HD automatically corrects images vertically and offers an easy-slide control bar for simple horizontal image correction. In addition, the Home Cinema 730HD is equipped with a built-in speaker and versatile connectivity, including HDMI and a range of other inputs to support Blu-ray® players, TV receivers, gaming consoles, PCs and smartphones. The projector also has four pre-set color modes, including a special color mode dedicated to gaming, allowing users to play their favorite video games or watch their favorite TV programs just about anywhere.

More about the Home Cinema 730HD

The Home Cinema 730HD is housed in a white, compact design and offers several performance features for home entertainment needs, including:

  • 3LCD Quality and Reliability: 3LCD, 3-chip technology delivers incredible color, amazing detail and road-test reliability with no possibility of color break-up or “rainbow effect”
  • Easy Setup and Installation:1.2x optical zoom for positioning flexibility, automatic vertical keystone (+/- 30 degrees) correction, easy-slide horizontal correction for easy image adjustments, and Instant Off® allows for no waiting time to start or shut-down projector
  • Versatile Connectivity: Component Video, S-Video, HDMI,  and USB Type A and B digital connections, and USB 2.0 to share photos and slideshows

Color Brightness Specification and Projector Performance

The new color brightness specification (measuring red, green and blue) published by the Society of Information Display (SID) allows consumers to compare projector color performance without conducting a side-by-side shootout. With today’s high definition content, home theater enthusiasts want to enjoy movies with higher quality in both darkened home theaters and brighter environments. For a truly impressive image, projectors need to offer both high color brightness and high white brightness. High color brightness is important for larger screen sizes and provides flexibility for a variety of screen materials. Without sufficient color brightness, images may be muddy, soft and lose detail, even in a dark room. Whether you’re watching movies, playing video games, or watching a family slideshow, Epson’s line of home entertainment projectors deliver consistent color brightness and white brightness, ensuring life-like reproduction of any content.

Availability and Support

The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 730HD ($649 MSRP) will be available in early September through select retailers nationwide and the Epson online store. The projector comes with Epson’s top-of-the-line service and support, including a two-year limited warranty with toll-free access to Epson’s PrivateLine® priority technical support, 90-day limited lamp warranty, and free two-business-day exchange with Extra CareSM Home Service.
