Zune 2 has been announce as well as Zune mini. To be accurate, the newZzune 80 and Zune 4gb & 8gb gave been announced. Here is a video of Microsoft’s Bill gate and J Allard showing off the new entry. Lets hope it does better in round two against the might ipod Entertainment, Offbeat, latest tech, Gadget Wired article “Thumb candy for dummies.” That’s how, in 2003, Time magazine described Nintendo President Satoru Iwata’s conviction that what consumers really wanted out of video games was simpler, more accessible entertainment — not the photorealistic graphics and massive online worlds that the company’s competitors were chasing. Less than four years later, the machine that Iwata built around his controversial strategy is the world’s top-selling game console. In the United States, Nintendo’s $250 Wii sold 360,000 units in April, while Sony’s $600, graphically intense, Blu-ray-powered PlayStation 3 props up the bottom of the sales chart like a doorstop, with 82,000 units sold. Screw the console wars, Fortune says they are over! The entire article has talk from Ubisoft, EA, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, and even Miyamoto himself. There’s a bit of info concerning how much money Nintendo makes on each console sold, how expensive it is to make a Wiimote, and more. I’ll have to pick up a copy of this issue to get a better look at the details. You can read a quick summary at the link below.
Yes yes yes you know I love this damn pics, so here are some more pics. Deal with it. Sooooooo cool. Ok enough, compose yourself man.
Seriously I am excited about this. Minority report technology in the flesh, I know other companies like Apple and Google are probably working on something similar. But I am glad Microsoft stepped up to the plate in releasing this. Here is another video… enjoy
Damn sweet, MS is not holding off the punches here. The futures is here and Microsoft is bringing it to us. Gizmodo was kind enough to cover this…… Project Milan is in fact a touch-sensitive table as you guys speculated and we reported earlier. Dubbed “Surface” and five years in the making, it’s set to establish a paradigm of what Microsoft calls “surface computers” which use touch as the sole method of input. Painting with surface sounds particularly intuitive (and fun): you can use a paint brush or simply dip your fingers into virtual paint cups. Photo resizing and stacking works much like the iPhone’s zoom gestures. Also cool is the capacity for multiple users. Such sweet tech comes at a price, naturally, with the units running $10,000 a pop. But, Microsoft expects prices to plummet over the next three to five years to the point they’ll be in your homes. In the meantime you’ll be able to play with them at T-Mobile stores, Harrah’s and Sheraton hotels. Got more questions? Hit the jump for a FAQ and (naturally) a boatload of pictures. I’m told that tonight, at 12:01am EST (okay, so tomorrow), the division of Microsoft that launched the Xbox and the Zune will unveil something very special . What it is, we do not know for sure, but it’s “something totally new coming out of the Entertainment and Devices division, and it’s going to change the way people interact with technology.” The email (which was not a tip but rather was mistakenly sent to me through official channels) also stated that “you really have to see it to believe it.” How tantalizing. The timing is good, since tomorrow is when Bill Gates and Steve Jobs get to point fingers at each other under the grandfatherly gaze of Grand Vizier Walt Mossberg, and in these heady iPhone days, Gates needs all the ammo he can get. But what the heck is it? We’re convinced Zune 2.0 is still a ways off, but then again, what else would this division be up to? Stay tuned, and we’ll get back to you with the details right around midnight Courtesy (via gizmodo)
OK I had no idea Zune sales were that bad, forcing Microsoft to curtail employee and visitor ipods in an amnesty bin. Just funny. Courtesy: www.tuaw.com |
