Audio Technica ATH-SR5 Headphone Review
Audio-Technica is already well known for quality audio products, but i had yet to try out one of their headphones, only earbuds and a microphone. The ATH-SR5 are just lovely!!! As soon as I put them on I loved the comfort and quality. These are very straightforward and no-nonsense as far as style.
Starting with sound, the quality really is quite crisp and clear. While listening to one of my favorite old school tracks, I could hear the crackles of the original recording, with the large 45 mm drivers providing Hi-Res Audio reproduction. Externally you can still hear quite a bit of sound while in use, so my subway traveling neighbor sitting next to me could hear what I was jamming to, but no more than any other models that I have tried recently. Thankfully they put a lot into the microphone. I had great feedback from people during phone calls as far as the sound quality.
I love the quality of the craftsmanship of the soft headband and ear cups. The stitching is well put together, and well cushioned for comfort. The on-ear memory foam ear cups are easily adjustable and do a good job of noise reduction. The headband has a steel spine, and ear ups made with a textured aluminum finish. The 1.2 m (3.9′) detachable cable with mic/controls is compatible with other smartphones and portable devices. You really are getting a quality headphone for a very reasonable price at $149.99.
