So what makes the Samsung Epic 4G Touch sooo special? A number of things, Samsung has don’t a good job in improve on the least attractive aspects of Android to making the experience all better. We shall be look at all of these, from the camera, additional software, OS integration, but first of lets take a look at TouchWiz 4.0 UX.
TouchWiz 4.0 UX
Dare I say it, TouchWiz UX is the best Android custom overlay from a hardware manufacturer. Yes I said it. Why? its simple, it doesn’t break Android down and reform it into something else. What Samsung has achieved here is the art of simple refinement and added an Android overlay that is fast crisp and a true enhancement to the operating system in everyway, from battery management, camera app & settings, to intuitive navigation options on the home screen and even live widgets that update to give you the latest information.

SPRINT ID
Oh how you have grow, from your initial unveiling with the Samsung Transform. Such a sluggish start. But to be honest, Sprint was one to something. The fact Android user are prone to customization says it all. We all know how the Sprint ID’s work, a simple way to download a pack that customizes your smartphone and Android experience to whatever taste or liking you have. Which also includes a Sprint ID version for stock Android. A nice touch and a welcome additive
Voice Talk Controls
This is a very cool and useful app addition by Samsung on the Epic 4G touch. The Voice control app is powered by Vingo. The voice control works very well with a hands free option, that can be activated by saying the words “Hi Galaxy”. Which will activate the voice controls. I must admit it’s a great addition to the Samsung Epic 4G and does promote a better hands-free driving experience. ![]()
8MP Camera
The Samsung Epic 4G touch has got an 8MP camera which records at 1080p, and does a fantastic job at it. We took some sample recordings both into and outdoors for showing the quality of Samsung’s 8MP camera on Epic 4G Touch. Sprint user will be pleased with the quality of the 8MP in both video and picture quality. for a detailed look at the quality from the camera check out our video here
HDMI- out via Mini USB
The Samsung Epic 4G Touch doesn’t have a HDMI _out port, but can out to a HD TV via the mini-USB port, through a mini-USB to HDMI out dongle. Which requires additional power input via the power plug of the Epic 4G Touch. Once all connected and plugged. The TV automatically recognizes the Samsung Epic 4G touch an a mirror image of your home screen is created on your HD TV in portrait mode. Rotating the device will not change you viewing screen. It only changes if a movies is played off the Epic 4G Touch via the HDMI cable. At this point all play controls reside on the Epic 4G Touch and the movies plays directly on the HD TV set.
Conclusion
The Samsung Epic 4G Touch is in all terms an Epic device, for Sprint customers this has been the phone you have been waiting for. Sorry Photon 4G and err EVO 3D. The Epic 4G Touch covers every aspect a consumer wants of smartphone usefulness. But what are the negatives on the device.
Honestly the only thin I can point to is the fact that mini USB – HDMI dongle is not included in the consumer packaging. Really that’s about it.
The Samsung Epic 4G is a premier device., its got a great camera(Pretty mush one of the best on any smartphone). Smooth and fast interface, with TouchWiz 4.0 UX and a blazing Processor. Great software additives like Voice Talk, movie editor and more. To be honest the Samsung Epic 4G Touch feels complete. Yes there will be fast devices in the near future from Samsung and other companies. But I can tell you The Epic 4G Touch from Samsung has received a level of quality to will give Sprint users full satisfaction.
